The DVCC Girls made the short trek to Crossroads Park in Gilbert on Friday morning of October 11th to compete in the 11th annual Epic Tourneys Cross Country Invite (formerly the Titan Invitational).
The Varsity placed fourth overall, led by senior co-Captain Dana Pivin in 8th (19:10). Freshman Kendyl Taylor was next across the line in 32nd (20:21), followed by junior co-Captain Lydia Leeman in 39th (20:46). A pair of freshmen completed the scoring, with Bailey Orr in 45th (21:03), and Jocelyn Prather in 51st (21:19).
The JV squad took 6th place in the Large Schools Open race, led by sophomore Nicolette Margaron in 18th (23:48). Another sophomore, Sophie Jimenez, finished in 32nd (25:40), followed by senior Anna Ketchington in 44th (26:37), junior Olivia Uram in 72nd (29:29), and junior Natalie Cottle in 79th (30:18).
Madison Edens paced the Thunder in the Freshmen race, finishing in 8th with a time of 26:12. Also competing were Gloria Chair in 10th (26:54), followed by a pair of runners in a virtual tie: Soleil Matias-Rivera in 34th (35:20.3) and Solimar Matias-Rivera in 35th (35:20.4).
The Thunder has a week off from racing and will begin the post-season at the Regional Meet on October 23rd.
