The DVCC Thunder Girls raced in the 18th-annual Desert Twilight Festival in East Mesa on the evening of September 27th.
Senior Co-Captain Dana Pivin placed 47th overall in the top-billed Sweepstakes race with a time of (19:12) to lead the Thunder Varsity to a 17th-place finish. Izzy Villarreal was the next DVCC runner to cross the line in 99th (20:11), followed by Co-Captain Lydia Leeman in 105th (20:16), Kendyl Taylor in 111th (20:21), and freshman Jocelyn Prather in 169th (21:19).
The Junior Varsity posted a 7th-place finish in the (combined) Large School Open race, with Bethany Yaso leading the way in 35th place (22:39). Aby Fedysi was right behind in 36th with a time of 22:41, followed by Kenedee Nelson in 53rd (23:29), Nicolette Margaron in 57th (23:37), and Camila Serrano in 139th (26:04).
Madison Edens led the DVCC Freshman with a time of 13:32 in the Large School Freshmen (1.6 mile) race, good enough for 47th place overall. Also competing for the Thunder were Gloria Chair in 55th (13:46), Solimar Matias-Rivera in 82nd (14:29), and Soleil Matias-Rivera in 85th (14:35).
The Thunder has a week off from racing and will resume the season at the Epic Tourneys Cross Country Invite on October 11th.
