DVCC used its legendary depth to cruise to a 2nd-place finish at the Division 1 Sectional Meet at Crossroads Park in Gilbert on October 31st, 2014.
Coach Hanson made a strategic decision to rest the DVCC Varsity and instead sent out his talented Junior Varsity squad to attempt to qualify Desert Vista for the State Meet. The young men answered that challenge and charged to a 2nd-Place Finish (74 points) to easily quailify the Thunder for the Arizona State Meet, which will be held on Nov 8th.
Leading the trek across the 5k Sectional Course was Junior Matthew Anciaux, who placed 12th overall with a time of 17:27. He was immediately followed by fellow Thunder Runner (Jr) Nathaniel Chan in 13th (17:28) and a trio of talented Freshmen: Habtamu Cheney in 14th (17:31), Nick Thatcher in 16th (17:35), and J Iannone in 19th (17:45). The impressive finish was rounded out by (So) Nicholas Walrod in 23rd (17:49) and (Jr) Jackson Snedecor in 31st (18:02).
The future, both immediate and long-term, continues to look bright for the Thunder, who are well-rested and ready to put the hammer down at the Arizona State Meet on Saturday, November 8th 2014.
