The Desert Vista Boys Cross Country team had an outstanding sectional race on Wednesday, November 13th at Crossroads Park in Gilbert, winning the race and easily qualifying for the State Meet.
The performance of the whole team was fantastic! Junior Steve Saurini lead with a time of 16:49 good enough for 5th place. He was followed by Junior Ty Anderson in 7th with a time of 16:50. Seniors Ryan Hoyt in 8th (16:51) and Nolan Billeter in 9th (16:52), along with Diego Rueda in 10th place (16:57)! The squad placed all of its five scoring runners in the top 10.
The remainder of the pack included Junior Shaud Becenti (17:37) and Senior Zaire Blevins (17:52), who took 19th and 22nd place respectively.
Regarding team scoring, the DVCC Boys team were Southeast Sectional Champions with an outstanding 39 points. This was the second consecutive Sectional/Regional race victory, and 12th overall title for the Thunder Boys squad.
These boys are something else! The hard work of our young and inspiring athlete is never limited. These boys are undoubtedly ready and well-prepped for the soon to come Arizona State Cross Country meet on November 13th at Cave Creek Golf Course, where they will attempt to win their 11th overall title.
