On Friday morning October 15th, the Desert Vista Boys Cross Country team travelled to Queen Creek to compete in the 3rd Annual Casteel Invitational at Mansel Carter Oasis Park.
In the Varsity race, DVCC grabbed a fourth-place finish in a field of sixteen. The squad was led by senior Nolan Billeter, who nabbed a top-10 finish with a time of 16:09, good enough for 9th place overall. Next across the line was fellow senior Diego Rueda in 15th (16:19), juniors Shaud Becenti in 18th (16:21) and Stevie Saurini in 26th (16:31). Senior Zaire Blevins completed the scoring in 48th (17:15).
In the JV/Open race, the Thunder finished fourth in a field of twelve. The team was led by junior Jack Boyd, who finished in 24th place with a time of 18:06. He was followed across the line by fellow juniors Jake Schenach in 31st (18:30) and Josh Fossett in 39th (18:43). Wrapping up the scoring were sophomores Braedon Lolli in 51st (18:54) and Pranas Shrestha in 60th (19:10).
