The Desert Vista High School Boys Cross Country team showcased their exceptional talent and determination at the San Tan Foothills Sabercat Invitational, leaving an indelible mark on the competition. This event served as a platform for our athletes to demonstrate their prowess in various divisions, and they did not disappoint.
The freshman/sophomore boys put on a spectacular display of speed and endurance. Owen Phelps led the charge, securing the 1st place spot with an impressive time of 17:57.9. Alex Hammond (18:01.1) and Jacob Luecker (18:01.4) closely followed, claiming 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. The team's dominance continued with six more athletes finishing in the top ten, showcasing their remarkable depth and talent, with La'a Hancock in 5th (18:16) and Niko Maldonado in 6th (18:41) rounding out the team scoring. In the team standings, Desert Vista's freshman/sophomore boys clinched 1st place with an outstanding collective effort.
The varsity boys race was nothing short of thrilling, with Braden Lolli leading the Desert Vista pack with a remarkable 2nd place finish (17:13). Nolan Kirby (17:17) and Maxton Klein (17:22) further bolstered the team's performance, securing 3rd and 4th place, respectively. Andrew Dale in 9th (17:57) and Ricky Garibay in 14th (18:16) completed the team scoring. The boys' collective effort was truly commendable. In the team standings, Desert Vista's varsity boys secured 1st place, reaffirming their reputation as a formidable cross country team
