The Desert Vista Boys traveled down I-10 to Tucson on Saturday, October 23rd to compete in the 5th Annual Eye of the Tiger.
The meet is hosted by Marana High School and the fast 5k course offers a great venue for teams looking for a final tune-up heading into tournament season.
DVCC swept both races, signaling that it is on track for success.
The Thunder Varsity easily won the Varsity Race. Senior Co-Captain Noah Jodon was the race medalist, winning with a time of 15:31. He was followed closely by fellow senior Co-Captain Gabe Parham, who finished 2nd (15:36). Completing the scoring were three seniors, with Ethan Bukowski in 5th (16:07), Ryan Hoyt in 9th (16:26), and Diego Rueda in 11th (16:34). Finishing just outside of the top 5 was senior Johnathan Estrada in 12th (16:35).
DVCC captured first place in the JV/Open race as well, led by junior Stevie Suarini, who won the race with a time of 17:08. Following him across the line were seniors Zaire Blevins in 3rd (17:51) and Parker Savage in 9th (18:52). A pair of juniors completed the scoring, with Logan Tinsley in 10th (19:00) and Jack Boyd in 12th (19:09).
Tournament Season has begun. Next up is the Regional Meet on Wednesday, Nov 3rd at Crossroads Park in Gilbert.
