The Desert Vista Boys Cross Country Team made its first appearance in the Titan Invitational on Friday, October 16, 2015. The meet is a relative newcomer to the Cross Country circuit and held its second annual event on a 5k course at Crossroads Park in Gilbert.
In the Freshman Race, DVCC demonstrated its seemingly endless pipeline of talent as the Freshmen cruised to a 1st-place finish, easily winning with 43 points. The squad was led by Travis Kearney, who finished 3rd with a time of 18:16 for the 5k course. Following him to the tape were Gordon Fuller in 4th (19:00), Ryan Hickman in 14th (20:02), Marshall Smith in 17th (20:15). Ceth Reeves rouned out the scoring in 19th (20:24).
In the Open Race, the Junior Varsity dominated the competition as they stormed to a 1st-place finish, nearly sweeping the meet with 23 points. The JV was led by senior Jackson Snedecor, who won his first career race with a time of 17:25. Sophomore D'Angelo Piasecki followed right behind in 4th (17:37) and a tight group of Thunder runners grabbed the next three positions to complete the scoring: junior Jacob Lemus in 5th (17:52), senior Joe Kretschmar in 6th (17:53), and sophomore Michael Tuli in 7th (18:01).
In the Varsity Race, the Thunder just missed a top-3 finish, taking 4th place with 129 points. The Varsity was led by Sophomore Aksel Laudon who finished in 13th with a time of 16:51. Senior Anthony Ramirez was 17th (17:01), sophomore Nick Thatcher was 27th (17:28), junior Solomon Hanson was 33rd (17:38), and senior Nathan Chan was 39th (17:45).
