Last weekend on Saturday, September 18th, the Desert Vista Boys Cross Country team was invited to the 40th Annual Woodbridge Cross Country Classic race at the Silver Lakes Sports Complex in Southern California.
The Freshmen started DVCC off strong, led by Levi Schoemaker with a time of 18:45 in 51st place. Unfortunately the squad did not qualify to place as a team because they had only four runners. Also finishing were Maxton Klein in 55th (18:46), Ricky Garibay in 89th (19:24), and Cade Baumann in 126th (20:09).
The Sophomores placed 6th out of 24 and were led by Kaden Evans with a time of 16:44 in 4th place. He was followed by Braedon Lolli in 43rd (17:55), Mason Klann in 57th (18:10), Connor Burdette in 60th (18:11), and Pranas Shrestha in 112th (18:51).
The Juniors placed 4th out of 17 teams, led by Shaud Becenti with a time of 16:37 in 7th place. Also scoring were Jake Schenach in 21st (17:32), Logan Tinsley in 26th (17:38), Jack Boyd in 38th (17:49), and Josh Fossett in 53rd (18:14).
The Seniors showed that they came to race as they placed 2nd out of 16 teams, led by Diego Rueda with a time of 16:17 in 4th place. Next across the line were Zaire Blevins in 17th (17:04), Will Perciballi in 39th (17:34), Parker Savage in 48th (17:43), and Blake Tuszynski in 56th (17:52).
Finally, the Varsity came in and finished off the day placing 3rd out of 30 teams in the top-billed Sweepstakes Race, led by senior team captain Noah Jodon, who ran a time of 14:44 and finished 31st. Rounding out the scoring were fellow seniors Johnathan Estrada in 41st (14:49), Ethan Bukowski in 42nd (14:50), Gabe Parham in 52nd (14:56), followed by junior Stevie Saurini, who completed the scoring with a 111th-place finish (15:29). Also competing were seniors Nolan Billeter in 127th (15:39) and Ryan Hoyt in 142nd (15:45).
The hard work, commitment, and dedication of the coaches and runners has Desert Vista primed for an amazing season!
