The DVCC Boys made the short trek to Crossroads Park in Gilbert on Friday morning of October 11th to compete in the 11th annual Epic Tourneys Cross Country Invite (formerly the Titan Invitational).
The Thunder took 3rd place in the Freshmen race, led by Carter Frisk, who won the race with a time of 17:59. Also scoring for the Thunder were Rumi Islam in 17th (20:16), Roman Cuaron in 23rd (21:01), Ben Leeman right behind in 24th (21:03), and Gabriel Gomez in 37th (22:37).
The JV squad took 2nd place in the Large Schools Open race, led by sophomore Jacob Luecker, who won the race with a time of 16:59. Abhay Mane (a junior) was next in 12th (18:27), followed by sophomore Trevor Williams in 17th (18:41), senior LeWillis Caneus in 32nd (19:02), and junior Jayden Jarvis in 37th (19:11).
The Varsity placed sixth overall, led by senior Maxton Klein in 19th (16:12). A pair of sophomores were next across the line: Luke Littlefield in 33rd ((16:36) and La'a Hancock in 35th (16:39); senior co-Captain Nolan Kirby was next in 62nd (17:06) and sophomore Trent Shirley completed the scoring in 67th (17:15).
The Thunder has a week off from racing and will begin the post-season at the Regional Meet on October 23rd.
